Once I wished there should be an "Officyclopedia" and I still think it's a good idea. But if we have a capable person who would be there 24 hours and answer to all your question and problem at your office, it would be an ideal.
In today's large and complicated corporations/firms we never be without questioning ourselves at least once a day, however tiny are these problems. "Can I make it sent in time, by what kind of special delivery?" "Who is the right person for this?" "Who would deal with this?" "Where's the archives of this project?" "Are there any divisions that take charge in it?" "Why all these stuffs are transferred to another section?"...and always the answer is hard to get. Most likely the information isn't updated, nobody can find the password of the old files that seems to be storehouse of important knowledge, and the right person is dealing with totally different things.
It's just because our working place is not designed for ourselves. But no one want offices to be too prim, too tidy with everything just perfectly in order.
So I dream of a human service not for customers (we have developed it already, though it isn't perfect), but for working people. "Office Concierge" is a person with answers and solutions, who don't just make right judgement on problems but also have techniques to settle it with organic, human skill.
"Are you in trouble? --Just ask him!" probably most of us miss these good old conversation, don't we?
