44 Holiday in neighborhood 1

猫と桜。

近所の公園で散り際の桜を見物していたら、この猫が現れました。
普通の野良猫ちゃんたちは一歩近づいただけでもさっと姿を消すというのに、この猫は至近距離で写真を撮られていても、悠然と無関心に、まったりし続けていました。

たぶん、動くのが面倒なオジイチャン猫だったのかと…。

オジイチャン（と仮定）は桜の散るのを見ていたのかどうかは知りませんが、動物達は人間と違って、年を取っても（と仮定）姿がサマになるのは何故でしょうか？

オジイチャンはその後、桜吹雪で真っ白になったベンチの下に潜って瞑想を続けていました。

43 Pirates

Please be aware, this is a talk of black humor, very unusually for my blog(a friend once described it as "cute and poetic", oh what a praise!!)

I was in a diner near my office one evening. There were two young guys beside me, who I knew from their talk was apparently employees in a trading company.

They were talking about pirates, because their business actually had the risk of being attacked by the pirates.

"You know, when you are sent to the dangerous area, you need to sign a paper and sware not to complain to our company anything about the risk of death."
"Really? What about the case you being kidnapped and imprisoned, and after released?"
"You' ll be paid, because while you're alive they think you're on duty."

The sense is far from the world of the financial officers like me. Frankly, I was enjoying thier continuing talk, but some of them are too black to put on here!

42 Shirts

最近シャツを立て続けに買いました。買ってきて、並べてみて、眺めていたら、フィッツジェラルドの「グレート・ギャツビー」を思い出しました。

デイジーがギャツビーと再会した日、その膨大なシャツのコレクションに見とれて、なぜか泣き出すシーンです。泣く理由が「こんなきれいなシャツはみたことないから」というような訳だったのですが、何故それで泣きたくなるのか、実はさっぱり分かりませんでした。

別に分からなくても好きなシーンだったのですが、改めて原文を見てみたら

"They’re such beautiful shirts,” she sobbed, her voice muffled in the thick folds. “It makes me sad because I’ve never seen such—such beautiful shirts before.”

とありました。どういうわけだったのか、やっと分かりました（たぶん）。
シャツがきれいだから悲しいのではなく、こんなきれいなシャツに囲まれて生きてきた（と彼女は思っているのですが）ギャツビーと一緒に人生を過ごせなかったことを悔やみ、悲しくなった、のだと。

どうでしょうか？
彼女はもちろん贅沢志向の人間なので、贅沢な人生に憧れてこういう発想をする、という解釈もあるのですが、むしろ、上質なもの、上等なものが、手の届かないようなその価値を歴然と、容赦なく示していることに、繊細な彼女は衝撃を感じたのかもしれません。

41 April fool

One of my favorite novel, "The Corps Steps Out" (by Craig Rice, 1940) I remember a guy said "If you want to be regarded as a man of humor, you should always tell the truth" (which means, the truth is always the funny, I suppose.)

So making fine jokes is difficult. To enjoy April fool you need media. Newspapers, radio, television. I think internet is not suitable for fine joke because it is always full of lies, fine or not. With media (at least for me) lying or tricking is a little bit easier.

"Monster's Inc", shows its slap-stick "monster's failure takes." Of course it's a fake, untrue, and I adore this sense of nonsense. Maybe this is the source of culture where people can enjoy April fools.

Oh, by the way, I'll wrap up my career in financial industry soon and start working at Pixar Studio.

40 Reindeer Records vol2

寝ても醒めても音楽が大好きなタイミングが周期的にやってきます。そういうときはコンピレーションを作りたくなります。

01-Walk With You / Ringo Starr
リンゴとポールの合作。Beatlesメンバーの曲はいつでも、ぶれのない、何かgiftがあるように感じます。

02-Two Weeks / Grizzly Bear
NYブルックリンのバンド。飛行機で聴いて一度で気に入ってしまいました。

03-Like a Rolling Stone / Green Day
Bob Dylanの名曲を稀代のパンクロッカーが歌うと？この曲、Rolling Stonesによるカバーも最高でしたが、それに劣らない疾走感です（要するに、もとの曲が良いのですね）。

04-Empire State of Mind, Pt. 2 - Broken Down / Alicia Keys
こんなふうに歌いあげられるNYという街、こんなにも表現される街、というのは結構すごいことです。

05-Fireflies / Owl City
一見したさわやかさ、キャッチーさだけでない繰り返し聞きたくなる不思議な深みがあります。

06-Elevator / Cloudberry Jam
15年ほど前のスウェーデンのバンドの曲で、all time bestのひとつ。さらりと王道を行く名曲。

07-Horchata / Vampire Weekend
最初ラジオで聞いて以来、気になってしかたなかった、風変わりでセンスの良い、変な曲（笑）。

08-Now We Are Free / Lisa Gerrard
映画"Gradiator"で使われた曲で、何語で歌っているのか分からないけれど極上の心地よさがあります。

09-Tom Traubert's Blues (Four Sheets to the Wind In Copenhagen) / Tom Waits
しゃがれ声、と言えばこの人のこと。曲は非常に優しくメランコリーで、そのギャップがたまりません。

10-We Are the World / U.S.A. for Africa
誰もが聞いたことがあると思います。もう一度聞いてみて下さい。有名なだけでなく、本当にいい曲だと気付きます。


ラジオDJのように、「絶妙」としか言えない連続性で曲をつなげることができたら、といつも試行しています。

39 Green, Light & City

最近いかに”緑”が好きかを繰り返し語っているので、もういい加減飽きられているかもしれませんが、

写真は私が育てている植物の一部です。育てているといっても、屋台の金魚すくいですくってきた金魚を育てている、というのとほぼ同じくらいの適当な手のかけかたです。出身（?）も、まあ金魚すくいと似たり寄ったりと思われます。この、雑（草）然とした写り方にも現れているでしょうか。

好きなのは、この「日光を浴びたときの緑」の姿です。光を合成して酸素を作り出すことで生存し成長するわけで、「このために生まれてきた!」とでもいわんばかりの姿。全身で光を吸収しようとしているように思えます。

緑を眺め、写真に撮り、ブログに載せている過程で、ル・コルビュジエの都市計画を思い出しました。

都市の中心に超高層ビルを整然と並べ、仕事と生活の場をそこに作り出し、自動車と歩行者の道路は区別し、地上からピロティで持ち上げられた超高層ビルの間の広大な区画に幾多の樹木を植え、緑地を作り出す。都市の人々は、自動車の通らない木々の下の道を行き交い、生活する。

都市生活に欠かせないものとして、緑を建築計画の一部とした計画。

さて、コルビュジエについて語りだすと、止まらなくなって「緑」どころではなくなるので、いずれまた次の機会につなげます。

38 Wind blows

When wind blows radically as spring is coming, I always remember the movie "The Fifth Element". If my memory is correct, "Wind, Water, Fire, Earth" is the 4 elements of the universe, and its heroine "Leeloo" is the 5th. The whole story is rather rubbish but I like it so much because of the combination of charming and mysterious Leeloo and "Die Hard" Bruce Willis in the sparkling creation of 23rd(?) century.

At the ending, she starts to say "Wind blows..." and that's the key of the secret to destroy the villain. Maybe "rain falls..." or something followed after this, but all I remember is the "Wind blows."
